About my journey
Renée Toth
Renée Toth became interested in special education advocacy after navigating her own childrens' school journeys. She became known as a resource to other families, giving guidance and assistance in helping their own children. Renée then sought formal advocacy training in 2015 and completed the Parent Consultant and Training Institute course at the Federation for Children with Special Needs, including a 50-hour internship. In 2021 she completed the William and Mary School of Law’s Institute in Special Education Advocacy.
Renée is involved in special education advocacy at the state and local levels. In Fall 2016, she was appointed to the MA Special Education Advisory Council by Commissioner Mitchell Chester. Her appointment was renewed in 2020 by Commissioner Jeffrey Riley. She established and chaired her local school district’s Special Education Parent Advisory Council for several years. Renée has been a member of the board of directors of the Special Needs Advocacy Network. Additionally, Renée has been a volunteer special education surrogate parent and speaker for parent groups.
